​​​STUDYING IN LATVIA​​

If you want to work legally and officially in Germany, then you need to have a profession that is in demand in this country.


​​The Latvian-German Vocational Education Center offers residents from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Georgia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and other countries to undergo vocational training and obtain a profession:

  • Computer systems technician

  • Programming technician

  • Electronics technician

  • Logistics specialist

  • Electronic equipment installer

  • Warehouse worker

  • Electrician technician

The Latvian Law on Education allows foreign citizens to be admitted to vocational training programs for the purpose of retraining or advanced training.

The lectures will be conducted only in English, so candidates need to know English at an intermediate level (B1) (materials and language of lectures are English) and already have a professional or higher education.

According to the law of the Republic of Latvia on vocational education, upon completion of training, students must undergo qualifying practice at an enterprise and pass a final exam. Only then can the student receive a state document for the acquired profession. The received document allows our graduate to get a job in Latvia.

Knowledge of the German language at level B1 provides the opportunity for further employment in Germany. We offer German language training for those who plan to find a job in Germany after graduating from our educational institution. Knowledge of the German language at level B1 must be confirmed by a certificate from the Institute. Goethe" where you need to take an exam.

We are the only educational institution in Latvia that helps its graduates find work in Germany. The Latvian-German Vocational Education Center participates in the German state program “Integration through Qualifications”, which is aimed at attracting qualified specialists from abroad.

Our graduates are already working in Germany (federal state of Saxony).


The duration of study in Latvia, depending on the program, is 1.5 or 2 years. At the same time, those wishing to work in Germany after completing their studies in Latvia will be able to study German.


We help with accommodation (accommodation) during your studies in Latvia in the hotels of our partners.


Necessary documents for admission of foreign citizens to the “Latvian-German Center for Vocational Education”:


  • Application

  • Copy of passport

  • A copy of the document about professional education (with an extract of grades) or a copy of a diploma of higher education (with an extract of grades).


Before signing the training contract, we will carry out the procedure for recognizing your educational documents. Therefore, all documents about previous education must be translated into English and certified by a notary.

We would like to note that after receiving a residence permit, our student receives an ID card with a mark - without the right to work. Therefore, candidates must understand that during their studies they will need funds not only to pay for training, but also for living expenses.


When submitting documents for a visa to come to Latvia and further obtaining a residence permit, the candidate must present to the Latvian Embassy a bank certificate indicating the presence in the account of an amount equivalent to 12 minimum wages in Latvia. From 1 January 2024 the amount is €8400.00. The bank account must belong to the candidate for training. After receiving a residence permit, you will be able to open a bank account in Latvia.

Tuition fees in Latvia:

- The fee for the first year of study is:

  • 2750,00 € - profession “Computer systems technician”, “Programming technician”,   “Electronics technician” or “Electrician technician”
  • 2446.00 € - profession “Logistics Specialist”

  • 1628.00 € - profession “Warehouse worker”.

  • 2070.00 € - profession “Electronic equipment installer”


- The fee for the second year of study is made a year later, before the renewal of the residence permit, in cash or from a foreign bank account. 

  • 2750,00 € - profession “Computer systems technician”, “Programming technician”,   “Electronics technician” or “Electrician technician”
  • 2446.00 € - profession “Logistics Specialist”

  • 1628.00 € - profession “Warehouse worker”.

  • 2070.00 € - profession “Electronic equipment installer”​


- Learning German is not necessary. But if you want to go to work in Germany after completing your studies, then you need to know German at a level not lower than B1. In this case, the cost of learning German will be 140.00 € per month, which must be paid while studying in Latvia.

Payment order:

1. Before you start processing documents for a visa in Latvia, you need to transfer 200.00 euros to our account. This price includes registration of all necessary documents for arrival in Latvia; payment of the state fee for processing documents at the Migration Department and payment for the procedure for recognition of your educational documents.

2. After receiving the conclusion on the recognition of your education document (professional or higher), we will sign a Study Agreement with you and submit documents to the Latvian Migration Department for a visa. After receiving an invitation number for a visa, the applicant pays half (50%) of the amount for the first year of study. If your visa is refused, only your tuition fee will be refunded.

The applicant pays the second half of the tuition fee (50%) within 3 (three) days after receiving the visa at the diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Latvia, to the specified account.

After arriving in Latvia, the student is required to obtain a residence permit within the time frame in accordance with the requirements of Latvian regulations.

To request a visa, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

  • Passport and foreign (boarding) passport;

The passport must be:

- issued no more than 10 years ago

- valid for three months after the end of the planned trip and

- have at least two blank pages intended for pasting in a visa.

  • A copy of all pages of the passport that have any marks

  • ​A completed visa application form, which the visa applicant has personally signed; See the electronic application (visa application form) here. In the upper right corner, select English.

  • One color photograph (35 mm x 45 mm);

- color photograph on a white background measuring 35 by 45 mm, on glossy paper, taken no more than 6 months ago, the head in the photograph should occupy 70 - 80% of the entire image

  • Certificate of no criminal record, translated into English and certified by a notary (apostille);

  • Travel health insurance policy for the period of time during which the foreigner expects to stay in Latvia;

  • Documents confirming the availability of financial resources. (From 1 January 2024 the amount is 8400.00 €);

  • Travel tickets to Riga or ticket reservation

  • Accommodation documents (agreement with the hotel/hostel/apartment owner). We help our students with concluding an accommodation agreement.

       

When applying for a visa, you must pay a government visa processing fee.


The visa applicant must additionally submit supporting documents:

  1. documents indicating the purpose of the trip. In our case, this is a Educational Contract and a certificate from the educational institution.
  2. a certificate from the bank confirming that you have an amount in your account of at least 8400.00 €.
